About the Business
Can you tell us a bit about Terraquip NZ Ltd? How did it all start?
Terraquip NZ Ltd was founded in May 2010 after recognising an opportunity to bring quality four-wheel-drive products to the New Zealand market. Founder Vince Rietveld secured the NZ distribution rights for the Ironman 4x4 product range, providing a strong foundation for the business to launch into the local 4WD scene.
What kind of 4WD products or services do you specialise in?
We are an importer and distributor of quality four-wheel-drive products. Our range includes bull bars, suspension systems, recovery gear, winches, spotlights, light bars, canopies, roof racks, storage solutions, awnings, rooftop tents, swags, twelve-volt fridges, and more.
What’s something unique about your workshop or store that sets you apart?
We are Christchurch’s home of Ironman 4x4, featuring an interactive product showroom, a fully equipped workshop, and a dedicated tyre bay. This allows us to cover all aspects of a customer’s four-wheel-drive needs in one place.
Who’s on the team, and what are their areas of expertise?
We have a dedicated team ranging from qualified mechanics to professional sales and service staff. Together, we bring more than 60 years of combined experience servicing the needs of the four-wheel-drive community.

Do you have a favourite four-wheel drive you’ve worked on or built?
There are too many to list.
What are some of the most common issues you see with customer vehicles?
Misinformed decisions and incorrectly installed parts, which often leave customers out of pocket.
What’s one essential upgrade or piece of gear you’d recommend for any four-wheel-drive owner?
A suspension upgrade is the best starting point for any four-wheel drive. It provides increased ground clearance, improved off-road capability, and better on-road comfort.

What’s your favourite local four-wheel-drive track or destination in New Zealand?
Barn Bay on the lower Hope River, accessed via the Cascade River on the West Coast.
